Babysitting Fundraiser
Just in time for the holidays!
Members of the Advent Lutheran Youth Group are offering a donation-only fundraiser for families! We are safe community certified and would love to watch your little ones as you take a few hours to yourself. All you’ll need to bring is a sack lunch and your child!
Please feel free to invite your neighbors and friends who also need a babysitter! Please RSVP by calling Casey Carlson at (408)761-6673 or emailing her at youth@advent-lutheran.org so we can be sure to have enough babysitters available!

Breaking and Entering Christmas - Service Project
Sunday, Dec. 20
While Unity Care Group provides the shelter and furniture basics for their residents, items like sheets, blankets, pillows, towels, dishes and silverware and curtains are often viewed by the residents as luxury items. Many of the youth will forego the expense of a blanket by sleeping in all their clothing at night to stay warm. To embrace them as a community of caring people, we are hosting a potluck holiday party for the kids, which will serve as a ruse to lure them out of their apartments. While they're enjoying the holiday party in their honor, our Band of Happy Hooligans will "break into" their apartments and leave behind new curtains, dishes and silverware, sheets, pillow, blanket and towels, plus the meager items each child asked for on their Christmas Wishlist.
9-12 graders and parents are invited to be part of this awesome service opportunity. We are going to be part of the "Band of Happy Hooligans." I also hope we can help donate some of the needed items!

Big Events in October!
We have some really exciting events this month I don't want you to miss!
It's not too late to sign up for our High School Leadership Retreat at Mt. Cross over the weekend of Oct. 16 - 18! This is a great opportunity to get away from a while and meet other high school youth from all over Northern California. The theme is "More Jesus in More Places." We'll be focusing on how we are always connected to God and each other no matter where we are! The cost is $125 but the experience is priceless!!
Also for high school students, sign up for the Sinisterium and Conover Mystery Ranch at Swank Farms in Hollister, CA on Friday, Oct. 23rd from 7:00pm - 11:00pm! We are going to brave the corn maze and everything else haunted that's around! I need you to sign up so I know how many drivers we'll need! Cost = $20
New Life Band will be here performing on Saturday, Oct. 24th at 7:00pm in the church. This is an awesome, free concert for ALL AGES! Enjoy this wonderful band from Tanzania. Come, here their stories and their great music!!

Week of 10/6 - 10/13
Our usual weekly schedule continues with Confirmation on Wednesday night from 7:00pm - 8:30pm.
Faith Journeys continues meeting on Thursday nights for 9th - 12th graders.
Monday night is High School Hang Out night!!! If you're in 9th - 12th grades, come hang out with us, play games, listen to music, talk, whatever. It's just time to hang out together in the youth room from 7:00pm - 8:30pm.
- 1st Year students will focus on the Lord's Prayer with the lesson, "A Holy Name."
- 2nd Year students will focus on the Ten Commandments with the lesson, "Protect Property"
- 3rd Year students will begin a new focus on the Apostles Creed, beginning with the first article. Please welcome Pastor Warner who will join us with an explanation about this creed and hopefully some great stories!
Faith Journeys continues meeting on Thursday nights for 9th - 12th graders.
- 6:30pm - 7:30pm gives us an hour for coffee talk at the local Peet's
- 7:30pm - 8:30pm brings us back to church for an hour of Lectio Divina. Don't know what Lectio is about? Join us and see! Our group has been growing and we have had some amazing conversations over the past few weeks!
